danner-mtn45-mid-gtx-smoky-olive
Danner MTN45 Mid Gore-Tex Smoky Olive

The Danner MTN45 Mid GORE-TEX in Smoky Olive is a men's hiking boot that puts cushioning and underfoot structure at the centre of the design. Choose this mid-height walking boot when your day extends beyond short city journeys and you want a setup to assess on longer paths. Fit it for your actual socks, terrain and load rather than for appearance alone.

A nubuck leather upper gives the boot its textured surface. The GORE-TEX Invisible Fit lining bonds the membrane to the upper, reducing the separate inner-boot feeling of a conventional lining. The boot is waterproof but not insulated. Select socks for the conditions, and remember that water can still enter from above the collar. A waterproof membrane is one part of keeping feet comfortable.

The EnduroFoam Plus midsole provides cushioning and rebound beneath the foot. A removable OrthoLite footbed adds another contact layer. Try the boots standing and walking, paying attention to how the heel settles and whether the forefoot remains comfortable. If you use your own insoles, check the complete fit with those installed rather than assuming the available space will stay the same.

A TPU rock plate supplies structure and protection underfoot on uneven ground. The Vibram N45 Plus outsole with Megagrip addresses traction on wet and dry terrain. These details make sense for paths where stones and uneven surfaces are part of the route. They do not make every surface predictable: take care on smooth wet rock, mud and abrupt changes in footing.

The imported delivery information specifies width D, and Danner identifies the DT-6 last for this style. Treat fit codes as a starting point. Lace the boots evenly, walk up and down an incline if possible, and check that the toes do not hit the front on descents. The lace-up closure should hold the foot without requiring uncomfortable pressure across the instep. Check both feet with the socks you plan to wear.

Danner lists this style as eligible for recrafting, including resoling, while noting that the lining cannot be replaced through that service. Check the available service before planning a repair. Brush away loose dirt, use suitable nubuck care and dry the boots away from strong direct heat. Build walking distance gradually in a new pair.
