Union Rover Approach Skis

The Union Binding Company Rover is designed to expand access to terrain that was previously out of reach. Developed to work in direct harmony with Union Explorer bindings, the Rover allows riders to climb efficiently and then transition quickly to ride down on their regular solid snowboard.

Built as a compact approach ski system, the Rover delivers lightweight maneuverability and fast, efficient transitions. Once the ascent is complete, the system swaps off in seconds, allowing riders to descend on the snowboard already in their quiver. This design keeps the downhill experience consistent, letting you ride the board you know and trust for the given snow conditions.

Each Rover ski is hand crafted in Austria at The Capita Mothership, produced using 100% clean energy. The construction reflects a performance driven approach while maintaining responsible manufacturing standards.

The core is built with an FSC certified Select wood core, providing a balanced combination of strength and reduced weight. Reinforcement comes from a Special Blend Fiberglass layup with Magic Bean Resin, engineered to support durability and responsive feel during skinning and variable alpine travel.

The base uses an XXX[TRUDED] base, designed for reliable glide and durability in touring conditions. The New Age Directional Camber sidecut and Alpine V2 profile contribute to stable skin track performance and confident handling in mixed terrain.

Durability is further reinforced through steel edges, offering grip and reliability during ascents and side hill travel. Each set weighs approximately 2 kg, keeping the uphill load manageable.

The Rover includes integrated climbing skins made from a 65% mohair and 35% nylon blend, balancing glide efficiency and grip. The system is compatible with Voile standard interfaces and all split bindings, expanding setup flexibility.

The Union Rover is built for riders who want to unlock previously inaccessible lines while maintaining the ride quality of their preferred solid snowboard on the descent.
