About Saucony

Saucony was founded in 1898 as the Saucony Shoe Manufacturing Company in Kutztown, Pennsylvania. The river where the company was founded was known to the Native Americans as "Saucon". Translated means "the place where two rivers meet".

The logo shows a flowing river with three boulders. In the early to mid-20th century, running became more of a sport. But the region lacked the right outfitter. With their own running shop, the owners of professional runners filled.

When Saucony running shoes won a "Best Quality" award from Consumer Reports magazine in 1977, the shoes quickly changed from an insider tip among avid runners to the improved running shoes of the day.

In addition to this classic, the Saucony Jazz and Shadow series are the pillars of Saucony's 80s running range. In the 90s more technically complex silhouettes followed with the Shadow 6000 and the Shadow 5000 which enjoy the greatest popularity in the sneaker world today.

Supported by the successful GRID damping, these new models were able to bring a new wind. Not least due to a later successful collaboration, the brand has managed to become an underlying name in the sneaker scene.
