Hestra is more than just a glove company. It's a family legacy rooted in craftsmanship, function and timeless Scandinavian design. Founded in 1936 by Martin Magnusson in the Swedish village of Hestra, the company is still run by the Magnusson family—now in its third and fourth generation.

from lumberjacks to global adventurers

The story began in the forests of Småland, where Martin Magnusson started making hardwearing gloves for local lumberjacks. In 1937, a nearby ski slope attracted more visitors, and the demand for warm, durable ski gloves quickly followed. Magnusson saw an opportunity. With his sons—passionate skiers themselves—he expanded into winter sports gear, always keeping the focus on quality and utility.

As skiing grew into a national pastime in Sweden during the 1960s, Hestra became a trusted name among professionals and enthusiasts alike. The company remained family-run, passing from father to son—and now also to grandsons. Each generation brought new ideas, but the commitment to craftsmanship stayed the same.

Unlike most modern brands, Hestra doesn’t outsource production. Every glove is designed and developed in-house, and produced in one of four Hestra-owned factories. All leather, fabrics and insulating materials—like wool or synthetic fleece—are carefully sourced by the Hestra team, ensuring consistency, quality and ethical practices.
