Mizuno Sale

Mizuno Sale

Mizuno Sale at Behind The Pines Amsterdam

Reduced Mizuno sneakers across the Wave range and the more everyday models. Mizuno is a proper Japanese sports company that happens to make some of the most interesting-looking technical sneakers available, and the engineering underneath is not decoration.

These are current products at a lower price, reduced on colourway and stock rather than build quality.

What the Wave plate actually does

Most cushioning systems work by adding soft material. Mizuno's Wave plate does something different: a thin, corrugated plate sits inside the midsole and disperses impact sideways across the foot rather than straight up through the leg. The result is a shoe that feels supportive rather than squishy, and that keeps its shape over a lot of wear.

The Infinity Wave used in the Wave Prophecy takes it furthest, with a visible spring-like structure through the heel. It looks unusual and it is genuinely doing the work, which is a rarer combination than it should be.

Wave Prophecy

The most distinctive shoe in the range and the one people either love or find too much. It is heavy by modern standards and extremely well cushioned, which makes it an excellent choice for long days standing and walking. Sizing is worth checking before you order: read the Wave Prophecy sizing guide, and our write-up of the Wave Prophecy LS if you want the longer version.

Everyday and heritage models

Beyond the Prophecy, the range includes lower-profile runners and the Contender, which sits closer to a classic training shoe and is easier to wear with normal clothes. The Mizuno x Rijksmuseum Contender is a good example of that side of the brand.

Trail and weatherproof models

The Wave Daichi and Wave Mujin sit on the trail side of the range, with grippier outsoles and, on the GTX versions, a waterproof membrane. Those are the ones worth considering for Dutch autumn walking rather than pure city use. See the wider category in Gore-Tex shoes.

How to choose the right pair

Start with how long you are on your feet. If it is a full day of standing, walking or commuting, the more cushioned Wave models are the right answer and the weight stops mattering after an hour. If you want something lower and easier to dress, the Contender and the flatter runners work better.

Mizuno generally fits true to size with a reasonably accommodating midfoot, but the Prophecy is its own case, so use the sizing guide. If you want the background on what is going on inside a technical sneaker, sneaker technology explained covers it without the jargon.

What to expect in the Mizuno Sale

  • Wave Prophecy: the Infinity Wave models, in previous colourways.
  • Everyday runners: lower-profile Wave models for daily wear.
  • Contender: the heritage training silhouette.
  • Trail and GTX models: Wave Daichi and Wave Mujin, when stock allows.

Why shop Mizuno sale at Behind The Pines?

Mizuno is not a brand most shops explain properly. We sell a lot of it, we know which models suit which feet, and we have written the sizing guides because we got asked the same questions often enough. If the pair is wrong, we would rather swap it.

Frequently asked questions

Do Mizuno sneakers fit true to size?

Mostly yes. The Wave Prophecy is the exception worth checking, and the sizing guide covers it.

What is the Wave plate?

A corrugated plate inside the midsole that spreads impact sideways rather than compressing straight down. It gives support without a soft, unstable feel.

Is the Wave Prophecy heavy?

Yes, noticeably. In exchange you get a lot of cushioning and a shoe that holds its structure. Most people stop noticing the weight quickly.

Can I use these for running?

The models we stock are set up for everyday wear rather than training. They are excellent for long walking days.

Are sale models previous season?

Generally the colourway is from an earlier drop. The shoe itself is unchanged.
