Sneakers Sale at Behind The Pines Amsterdam

This is the reduced part of our sneaker wall: running silhouettes, trail-capable models and everyday suede and leather from Karhu, Saucony, Veja, Merrell, Norda, Vans and The Mercer Brand. Almost all of it is previous-season colourways. Same last, same outsole compound, same construction, same warranty. What changed is the colour and that we need the shelf space.

Sneakers are worth buying reduced because they are consumable. You wear them out, and no amount of care stops that. Sizes thin out quickly in a sale, so buy a model you already know fits rather than gambling on a last you have never tried.

A daily shoe and a performance runner are not the same purchase

Most people here buy a running shoe and then never run in it. They walk twelve kilometres a day in something built for forward-only motion on smooth tarmac, then wonder why one heel is worn flat by spring. A Saucony trainer is a genuinely good tool. It is just not designed to be pivoted on brick, scuffed against kerbs and left wet overnight.

A daily shoe asks for denser rubber, more structure in the upper, and a build that survives being soaked and dried repeatedly. A suede Karhu and a Norda answer different questions: one is a city shoe you can walk all day in and still wear to dinner, the other is a trail shoe that will do a wet forest and dry out afterwards. Owning both and alternating them is the single thing that makes sneakers last, because foam needs a day to recover and a damp lining needs longer. A sale is the only time that advice is affordable.

Outsoles, cobbles and wet tram tracks

Amsterdam is brick, granite kerbs and steel rails, all polished smooth by traffic. Wet steel is the worst surface a sneaker meets, and soft high-rebound running rubber has very little to hold on with. If you walk and cycle here year-round, a denser flat outsole or a properly lugged trail sole is noticeably more secure.

Uppers in a wet nine months

Suede copes with Dutch weather better than people expect, provided you proof it before the first wear and dry it away from a radiator. Mesh dries fastest but stops nothing. Full-grain leather takes the most abuse and ages best. None of it is waterproof unless the page says so, and a membrane keeps water out and sweat in: a fair trade in November, a bad one in June.

Orders ship from Amsterdam. If you are nearby, come and try things on: sizing across Karhu, Saucony, Veja and Merrell is not consistent, and ten minutes on the shop floor beats two return shipments.

Frequently asked questions

Is sale stock last season?

Mostly yes, and that is the point. These are previous-season colourways of models usually still in production. Last, midsole and outsole are unchanged; you pay less because the colour is a year old.

Do reduced sneakers still have a warranty?

Yes. Manufacturing faults are covered exactly as at full price. Wear from use is not a fault, on any shoe, at any price.

Can I return a pair bought in the sale?

Yes, within 30 days, unworn and in the original box. Try them indoors on a clean floor: a sole that has been outside cannot go back.

Which size should I take?

Check the size guide on the product page rather than assuming. Veja tends to run large and some trail models fit shorter than their road equivalents. Between sizes, and wearing thicker socks, go up.

Will sold-out sizes come back?

Usually not. Sale stock is what is left of a production run, so once a size is gone it is gone.
