Merrell Sale
Merrell Sale at Behind The Pines Amsterdam
Reduced Merrell hiking shoes, trail models and the packable Hut Moc. Merrell is the brand people buy when they want something that works on a trail but does not look like a technical product, and it is one of the most consistent sellers in our footwear range.
These are standard products at a lower price, reduced on colour and stock rather than build.
Where Merrell fits
Most outdoor footwear asks you to choose between a stiff, supportive boot and a light shoe with no protection. Merrell sits in the middle: enough structure and grip for real trails, light enough to wear all day and to pack for a trip. For a lot of people, that is exactly the right compromise.
The outsoles are usually Vibram, which is the part that matters most in wet conditions. Grip is what stops a hiking shoe from being a liability on a wet Dutch dyke or a greasy Alpine path.
Moab
The Moab is the model the brand is built on, and it earns it. Comfortable straight away with almost no break-in, well cushioned, and available in both ventilated and GORE-TEX versions. If you want one shoe for hiking, travel and long walking days, this is the default recommendation.

Hut Moc
A different idea entirely: a packable, collapsible slip-on designed as the shoe you change into after a day on your feet. Light enough to live in a bag, comfortable enough that plenty of people end up wearing them as their main shoe. We reviewed them in the Merrell Hut Moc 2 Packable review.
Trail and speed models
The Agility Peak and Moab Speed sit closer to trail running: lower, lighter, more aggressive lugs. Better for moving quickly, less supportive under a heavy pack.
How to choose the right pair
Start with waterproofing. A GORE-TEX version keeps water out and is the right call for Dutch autumn and winter, but it breathes less and will feel warm in summer. The ventilated versions dry fast and stay comfortable in heat but soak through in rain. There is no single correct answer, only the one that matches when you will wear them.
Then think about load. Carrying a pack means you want more structure underfoot. Day walking and travel means lighter is better. Our comparison of the best all-round outdoor shoes for city and nature and the guide to lightweight hiking shoes for travel both cover the decision.

Why shop Merrell sale at Behind The Pines?
We sell a lot of Merrell and we walk in it. That means we can tell you whether the GORE-TEX version is worth it for how you will use them, which model suits a wider foot, and when a lighter shoe is genuinely the better buy. Fit advice is the part that saves you money, not the discount.

Frequently asked questions
Do Merrell shoes need breaking in?
Generally no. The Moab in particular is comfortable from the first wear, which is a large part of its appeal.
Should I buy the GORE-TEX version?
Yes if you walk through wet Dutch autumns and winters. No if you mostly walk in warm, dry conditions, where the ventilated version is more comfortable.
Do they fit true to size?
Mostly, with a reasonably wide toe box that suits broader feet. If you wear thick hiking socks, consider a half size up.
What is the Hut Moc for?
It is a packable camp and travel shoe, designed to be light and collapsible. Plenty of people wear them daily rather than only after a hike.
Are sale pairs previous season?
Usually an earlier colourway. The shoe construction is the same as current stock.
