Snowboard Bindings Sale at Behind The Pines Amsterdam

Bindings are the least glamorous part of a setup and the part that does the most work. Every input you make passes through them, because the board only knows what the binding tells it. They are also the piece of hardware that changes least from year to year, which makes them the easiest thing on the whole snow wall to buy reduced without giving anything up.

What is in here is mostly Union, with Thirtytwo, Rome, Burton, K2, Bent Metal and Ride filling in around it. Previous-season colourways of current chassis, same baseplates, same warranty. Read the next two sections before you choose a pair: compatibility and flex are the only two things that can go wrong here, and both are avoidable.

Compatibility first, flex second

Check your board before you look at a single binding. Most boards use a 4x4 or 2x4 insert pattern and take almost any disc. Burton's Channel needs a Channel-compatible disc, and while most brands put one in the box, most is not all. If you are buying an older model, or a brand you have not owned before, ask us rather than assume. It is the one genuinely non-recoverable mistake in this category and it takes thirty seconds to rule out.

Then flex, where people get it wrong in the same direction almost every time. A stiff binding on a soft boot does not make the setup stiffer, it just crushes the boot: the highback loads the back of the liner and the boot folds instead of driving the edge, so you lose response rather than gain it. Keep binding flex close to boot flex. If your boots are soft to medium, a medium binding will feel more precise than a stiff one, not less.

Highback lean, the adjustment nobody makes

Forward lean shortens the distance between your calf and the heel edge, so heelside turns come round faster. On a steep, firm day that is genuinely useful. Too much and your legs burn on flat runs and park laps become miserable. Start at the minimum, add one notch, ride it, go from there. Rotating the highback to line up with your binding angle is the other five-minute change most people never bother with.

Baseplate cushioning and what it is really for

Cushioning gets sold as comfort, and it is, but what it actually buys you is knees that survive flat landings. The trade-off is feel: a very damp baseplate takes the sting out of a bad landing, a thinner and more direct one gives you more feedback underfoot. Land flat in the park regularly and you want the cushioned one. Ride piste and care about edge angle and you want the direct one.

How it fits with the rest of the kit

Bindings only make sense as part of a set. If you are buying more than one piece, start with boots — they set the flex the bindings should match and they are the only part that has to fit your body. What to expect in the sale

• Previous-season models: same chassis, baseplate and highback as the current line, in an older colour.
• Limited sizes: M goes first, so check your boot size against that brand's chart early.
• Full warranty: reduced bindings carry the same manufacturer cover on baseplates and highbacks as full-price stock.
• Discs included: pairs ship with their standard disc set; ask us first if you ride a Channel board.

Frequently asked questions

Is sale stock last season's model?

Mostly yes, and bindings are the category where that matters least. Chassis, baseplates and highbacks carry over for years on most models; what changes is the colourway and occasionally a strap logo. You are buying the current design at a reduced price.

Will these fit my board?

If your board has a 4x4 or 2x4 insert pattern, almost certainly. If it is a Burton with the Channel, you need a disc that works with the Channel, and most modern bindings include one. Send us your board model and we will check it before you order.

What size binding do I need?

Binding size follows boot size, not board size, and the ranges differ between brands. A medium can start at a UK 7 in one brand and a UK 8 in another, so use that brand's chart rather than your usual assumption. On the edge between two, the smaller one usually holds the boot better.

Should the bindings be stiffer than my boots?

No. Keep them close together. A stiff binding on a soft boot bends the boot instead of the board, and you end up with less control rather than more. If you want a stiffer setup, change the boots first.

Can I return sale bindings?

Yes, within 30 days and unused. Strap into them on the carpet at home first: check the highback clears your calf and that the toe strap sits on the toe box rather than over the top of your foot.
