Snowboard Jacket Sale at Behind The Pines Amsterdam

Reduced snowboard and ski jackets across the brands we carry, from plain shells to fully insulated builds. A jacket is usually the single biggest decision in a snow setup, and buying one at the end of a season is the sensible way to do it, because outerwear construction moves slowly and last year's shell is this year's shell with a different colour.

Everything here is standard stock at a lower price. Same membranes, same taping, same warranty.

Shell or insulated

This is the decision that matters, and most people get it backwards. An insulated jacket has the warmth built in, which is simple and works well on cold, low-effort resort days. A shell has no insulation at all and relies on what you wear underneath, which sounds like more work but gives you a much wider temperature range.

If you ride hard, hike, or you are out in spring conditions, a shell plus a good mid layer will beat an insulated jacket almost every time. You can dump heat. With insulation sewn in, you cannot.

Waterproofing and breathability

Two numbers usually appear on the product page: a waterproof rating in millimetres and a breathability rating in grams. For most European riding, 15,000mm is a comfortable floor. Wet coastal snow, or long days in storms, is where a GORE-TEX membrane earns the price difference. We explain how the membranes actually work in what exactly is GORE-TEX.

Breathability is the number people ignore and then regret. If you sweat into a jacket that cannot move moisture out, you get cold the moment you stop.

Fit and features

A snowboard jacket should be long enough to cover you when you are sitting down and roomy enough to layer under without pulling across the shoulders. Beyond that, look for pit zips, a powder skirt, a helmet-compatible hood and pocket placement that still works with a backpack on. Those are the details you notice on day three, not in the shop.

Building the rest of the system

In practice that means a base layer from thermal underwear, something from mid layers and fleece, then the shell. Match it with snowboard pants, gloves and mitts and goggles.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a difference between a ski jacket and a snowboard jacket?

Technically very little. Snowboard jackets tend to be cut longer and roomier, ski jackets slightly closer to the body. The membrane, insulation and features matter far more than the label, and most jackets here work for both.

What waterproof rating do I need?

15,000mm handles most European resort riding. Go higher if you ride in wet snow, spend long days out, or sit down a lot.

Should I size up for layering?

Usually not. Snowboard jackets are already cut with layering room. Size up only if you plan to run a thick insulated mid layer underneath.

Are sale jackets last season?

Mostly previous-season colourways. Outerwear construction changes slowly, so you are getting the same jacket at a lower price.

Can I wear it off the mountain?

A shell absolutely. It is a very good rain jacket the rest of the year. Insulated snow jackets tend to be too warm for city use.
