Reduced Gramicci pants, shorts, tees and jackets. Gramicci is one of those brands where the design brief has barely changed in forty years, and that is the point: the gusseted crotch and the webbing belt were solutions to a real problem, and they still work.

Everything in this selection is standard stock at a lower price. Same cut, same fabric, same hardware.

Why Gramicci still makes sense

The brand came out of Yosemite climbing culture in the early eighties, designed by someone who needed trousers that would let him get a foot above his head without the seam giving up. Two details came out of that: a diamond gusset at the crotch so the fabric moves with you, and a webbing belt with a metal buckle you can operate one-handed.

Neither is a styling decision. It is why the pants read as climbing gear and wear like normal trousers, and why they have ended up in a lot of wardrobes that never see a crag.

Pants

The core shapes run from the original G-Pant through the narrower NN-Pant and various tapered and loose cuts. Fabric changes the character more than the pattern does: cotton twill wears in and softens, ripstop and nylon versions pack down and dry fast, and the corduroy versions are the winter answer. G-Shorts

The short version of the same idea, and probably the piece Gramicci is best known for. Worth knowing before you order: sizing is not consistent across the range, and some pieces follow Asian sizing rather than European or US. We wrote the G-Short size guide specifically because this catches people out.

Tops and layering

The tees, shirts and fleece pieces follow the same logic as the trousers: relaxed, functional, not loud. They work as summer layers and as the middle of a colder-weather outfit without looking like technical kit.

How to choose the right Gramicci piece

Decide first whether you want the pieces for movement or for the look, because it changes the fabric you should pick. If you are hiking, travelling or climbing in them, go for the nylon and ripstop versions: lighter, quicker drying, less weight when wet. If they are going to be everyday trousers, the cotton twill is more comfortable and ages better.

Then check the size chart on the specific product rather than assuming your usual size carries across. The webbing belt gives you some room to adjust, but it will not fix a waist that is two sizes out.

Frequently asked questions

Does Gramicci use Asian sizing?

Some pieces do and some do not, which is exactly the problem. Check the size guide and the measurements on the individual product page before ordering.

What is the gusseted crotch for?

It is a diamond-shaped panel that removes the four-way seam intersection at the crotch, so the fabric stretches and moves with you instead of pulling. It is the reason you can climb, squat or sit cross-legged in them comfortably.

Can I remove the webbing belt?

Yes, on most models. Plenty of people take it out and run a normal belt, though the buckle is genuinely quick to use once you are used to it.

Which fabric should I choose?

Cotton twill for everyday wear and comfort. Nylon or ripstop for travel, hiking and anything where drying time matters. Corduroy for colder months.

Are sale pieces from older collections?

Generally yes, in the sense that the colourway is from an earlier season. The cut and construction are the same as the current range.
