FCS Sky Brown Traction – signature control built on the T-3 platform

The FCS Sky Brown Traction is a signature 3-piece traction pad that takes its design cues from one of the most widely used pads in the Essential Series range: the FCS T-3. The result is a versatile layout designed to suit a broad range of tail shapes and surfing styles.

Why a 3-piece pad matters

With a 3-piece construction, you can position and spread the side panels to match your tail outline and stance width. This is particularly useful when you want coverage and control without committing to a one-piece pad that dictates spacing. The centre tail section provides the key reference point under the back foot, while the side pieces expand the usable traction zone.

Groove patterns for movement and hold

Sky’s pad features the double square groove, described by FCS as a favourite among team riders. The groove is intended to allow subtle back-foot repositioning, then help keep your foot stable once you’re fully loading through a turn. In addition, the pad includes double diamond groove for added traction and water management underfoot.

Arch bar, tail kick and board sensitivity

A small coffin arch bar adds a defined arch feel to help you locate your foot quickly during transitions. At the rear, a high tail kick creates a firm stop point—useful when you’re driving hard off the tail and want a consistent lever to push against.

For feel and contact, the pad is perforated for added sensitivity and features a sanded EVA surface to increase friction. The thin profile helps keep board feedback direct, so you can read pressure changes without feeling disconnected from the deck.
