Nudie Jeans Rad Rufus Grey Lake

The Nudie Jeans Rad Rufus Grey Lake is a regular straight jean with a shape that feels relaxed without turning oversized. Its high waist, regular fit through the seat and thigh, and straight leg create a clean, balanced silhouette with enough room to move. Rad Rufus is one of Nudie’s more classic cuts: less tapered than a slim jean and more structured than a loose fit. The Grey Lake wash gives it a worn-in grey appearance from day one, so it works easily with sneakers, boots, knitwear and heavier outer layers.

The fabric is 14 oz rigid organic cotton denim made from 100% cotton. There is no stretch construction to soften the shape artificially; instead, the denim starts substantial and develops through wear. Nudie describes Grey Lake as washed down to a grey tone with darker areas around seams and folds, gentle wear marks and local fading that add depth without creating a heavily distressed look. Black thread at all seams keeps the finish tonal, while antique silver trims, a button fly and a Jacron patch complete the traditional denim construction. The jeans are made in Tunisia.

Because this is rigid denim, the feel is different from stretch jeans. Expect more structure when the pair is new and gradual adaptation as the cotton moves and softens with use. The high rise sits clearly at the waist, while the regular leg opening keeps the lower leg straight rather than narrowing strongly toward the shoe. That makes Rad Rufus particularly useful if you want a contemporary silhouette with more room through the leg but still want the proportions of a conventional five-pocket jean. The Grey Lake wash is already developed, so you do not need to wait for raw denim fades before the jeans gain character.

For care, Nudie recommends washing only when needed. When you do wash them, use a 40°C machine wash, turn them inside out and wash with similar colours. Do not bleach, dry clean or tumble dry; iron at a low temperature if required. Nudie notes that the fabric may bleed when wet or dry and may shrink by up to 3%, so following the care label matters.
