The Snow Peak TAKIBI Denim Jacket Black reworks a straightforward coverall jacket in Snow Peak’s specialist TAKIBI denim. The Black colour and deliberately stripped-back design keep the silhouette calm, while four large patch pockets and reinforced components preserve its workwear purpose. It is a substantial unisex layer for camp, travel and daily use, with enough character to develop rather than feel finished on the first wear.
The original Japanese denim combines 60% cotton and 40% modacrylic. It is woven by a denim specialist in Fukuyama, Hiroshima, using Kanecaron flame-resistant fibre from Kaneka Corporation. Because the protective property is part of the fibre, it is designed to resist degradation through washing more effectively than a simple surface treatment. Flame resistant still does not mean fireproof, so avoid direct flame and take normal care around sparks.
At 10.7 ounces, the fabric sits in a useful mid-weight range: substantial enough to hold the coverall shape, but not so heavy that it becomes a rigid outer coat. Snow Peak uses only a water wash on the black denim, leaving the surface ready to soften and change with wear. Creases, pocket edges and high-contact areas will gradually make this exact jacket more personal.
The oversized fit creates room through the body and sleeves for easy movement and layering. A standard collar keeps the neckline familiar, while snap closures make the front quick to open and close. Four large exterior patch pockets organise everyday essentials, and cotton-twill inner pockets add a softer internal storage surface. Reinforced components support the places that see repeated use.
Wear the Black version over a tee or shirt as a mid-season jacket, or add knitwear underneath in colder weather. Choose your usual size for Snow Peak’s intended oversized proportion; consult the brand measurements if you prefer a neater coverall shape. The jacket is not waterproof and is not a substitute for certified protective clothing, but it offers useful spark resistance for responsible leisure use around camp.
Snow Peak recommends cold washing and hang drying. Wash only when needed, close the snaps and follow the sewn-in care label to support controlled ageing. Snow Peak
Snow Peak was founded in Japan in 1958 by Yukio Yamai, a mountaineer with a clear vision. He wanted to create outdoor equipment that was as functional as it was beautiful. What started as a small brand in the mountains of Niigata has grown into a global name known for refined design, thoughtful craftsmanship, and a deep respect for nature.
