Vans MTE Half Cab GORE-TEX Insulated Black / Black

The Vans MTE Half Cab GORE-TEX Insulated Black / Black takes one of Vans' most recognisable skate silhouettes and rebuilds it for colder, wetter conditions. The familiar mid-cut Half Cab shape remains, but this version adds a waterproof GORE-TEX construction, extra insulation and a more aggressive outsole for everyday use through autumn and winter.

Half Cab heritage, weather-ready construction

Originally designed around Steve Caballero's signature mid-top, the Half Cab has always balanced ankle coverage with the mobility of a skate shoe. This MTE version keeps that character intact while adding a more protective build for rain, cold streets and mixed winter conditions. The Black / Black colourway keeps the look understated and easy to wear with denim, technical trousers or heavier winter layers.

GORE-TEX waterproof protection

A waterproof and breathable GORE-TEX membrane helps keep rain and surface water out while allowing internal moisture to escape. That makes the Half Cab a strong option for wet commutes, travel and daily city use when a standard suede skate shoe would quickly become uncomfortable. If waterproof footwear is your priority, compare it with the rest of our waterproof shoes.

Warmth and grip for colder conditions

Insulation adds warmth without changing the Half Cab into a bulky winter boot. Underfoot, Vans' All-Trac rubber outsole is designed to offer dependable grip across wet pavement and variable surfaces. The cushioned footbed and padded collar retain the familiar Vans feel, while the weatherised construction gives the shoe a more substantial, supportive ride than a standard Half Cab.

Who is it for?

This is a good choice if you like the classic Half Cab but need something better suited to Dutch autumn and winter weather. It works especially well for everyday city use, colder skate sessions, travel and long days where waterproofing and traction matter more than minimum weight.
