The Filson Tin Cloth Field Jacket is a hard-wearing outer layer built for demanding use in the field, on the job, and in everyday wet weather. It is made with Filson’s signature 14-oz. oil finish Tin Cloth, a densely woven cotton fabric developed for dependable resistance against rain, snow, abrasion, and brush. The result is a jacket with a distinctly functional feel, designed to perform in rough conditions without unnecessary complication.
A key detail is the seamless shoulder design, which removes shoulder seams to improve water resistance in one of the most exposed areas of the jacket. At the front, a two-way zipper closure is protected by a storm flap, giving added coverage and allowing easier adjustment when seated, moving, or layering over heavier clothing. The drawcord-adjustable waist and hem help fine-tune fit and seal out wind in variable conditions.
Filson builds this jacket with practical storage in mind. The large front pockets are designed for field use and offer expandable capacity, while internal dividers help keep contents organized. At the back, the jacket features a lined rear game bag pocket with zippered side entry, adding a highly functional storage option for carrying gloves, a hat, or other gear when not used in its original hunting context. The collar and high-set hand pockets are lined with 100% virgin Mackinaw Wool, providing reliable warmth in cold and wet conditions.
Inside the construction, 8-oz. dry finish Shelter Cloth adds another durable cotton component to the overall build. The jacket also accepts Filson liners, sold separately, for users who want to adapt it for colder conditions. In Otter Green, the piece carries the straightforward, utilitarian character expected from Filson outerwear, balancing field-ready function with everyday durability.
Please note that oil finish garments require specific care. This jacket should not be washed or dry cleaned. Instead, brush or wipe clean with a damp rag, and rewax as needed to maintain water resistance. Because of the oil finish, prolonged contact with light-colored fabrics should be avoided, especially in warmer weather.

Filson
Filson is built on grit, quality, and trust. Founded in Seattle in 1897 during the Gold Rush, the brand earned its reputation by outfitting prospectors, loggers, and outdoorsmen who needed gear that could survive anything. More than a century later, Filson continues to make durable clothing and accessories that feel as relevant today as they did back then.
