It is made from Filson’s signature 14 oz. oil finish Tin Cloth, a waxed cotton developed for reliable protection against weather, abrasion, and rough terrain. Woven by British Millerain in England, the fabric combines a dense construction with strong tear resistance and dependable water resistance. Over time, like heavy-duty denim, the shell breaks in and adapts to the wearer’s movement patterns for a more natural fit.

The shorter Cruiser cut is designed for mobility and practical access. Its hip-length shape allows easy reach to pants pockets or a tool belt, and helps prevent the jacket from riding up while seated. This makes it a strong option for work settings, commuting, and everyday wear where durability and freedom of movement matter as much as weather protection.

Inside, the torso is lined with 6 oz. dry finish Cover Cloth, adding structure and comfort without unnecessary bulk. The sleeves are lined in polyester twill, which helps the jacket layer more easily over shirts and midlayers. Front closure, cuffs, and hem adjustment tabs are secured with metal shank buttons, keeping the construction simple, durable, and easy to use.

Storage is functional and purpose-driven. The left chest pocket is slotted to hold small tools or a carpenter pencil, while the right chest pocket uses a flap closure for more secure carry. Hand pockets are reinforced with bar-tack stitching for added strength in high-use areas.

This jacket runs small. If you are between sizes or expect to layer underneath, sizing up is recommended. Care is equally straightforward, brush or wipe clean with a damp rag, and rewax as needed to maintain water resistance. As with oil-finish garments in general, prolonged contact with light-colored fabrics should be avoided, especially in warm conditions.
