The Gerry Lopez Something Fishy in Trueride PU is a modern take on one of surfing’s most enduring board concepts. Inspired by the original fish design created by Steve Lis in the early 1970s, this model blends that proven template with Gerry Lopez’s own adjustments to the rails, bottom shape, and rocker. The result is a board that stays true to the speed and glide that define a classic fish, while adding a more controlled, more manoeuvrable feel underfoot.

This shaping approach gives the Something Fishy a clear position within a surf quiver. It is built for surfers who appreciate the flow and drive of a traditional fish, but want a version that feels easier to manage through turns and across changing sections. It carries the fast character expected from a fish, yet Gerry’s updates aim to make the board more responsive and easier to control without moving away from the core design language.

The board is built in Surftech Trueride PU construction, a more traditional build designed to deliver a dependable and predictable surfing experience. It uses a polyurethane core combined with polyester resin and model-specific fiberglass layups selected to balance weight and durability. This construction is intended for surfers looking for a familiar feel in the water, with a natural response that stays close to classic surfboard behaviour.

Additional build details include a wood-ply stringer for natural flex and added break-strength, plus a 6oz fiberglass layup with 4oz full patch for a balanced strength-to-weight ratio. The board is finished with an airbrushed rail and bottom with pin lines and a sanded finish, keeping the overall presentation clean while supporting high-speed performance.

This version comes in a 2 fin setup and uses the Futures system. Fins are not included.
