The Hestra reMix Mitt is a sustainable reinterpretation of a classic winter mitten, crafted with the brand’s signature durability while reducing material waste. Built from high quality goatskin and cowhide that would normally be excluded from standard production due to minor visual imperfections, the reMix Mitt transforms surplus leather into a functional, long lasting outdoor glove without compromising performance. Each pair is slightly unique in tone and texture, reflecting the natural character of reclaimed materials.
Designed for cold weather trekking, winter chores, hiking and general outdoor use, the mitt offers dependable warmth through a removable wool liner combining wool terry and wool pile for loft, insulation and moisture management. The lining delivers a naturally breathable feel, retains heat when damp and can be removed for airing out, washing or replacement. This modularity not only extends the lifetime of the glove but supports Hestra’s broader sustainability philosophy of repairability and material responsibility.
The outer shell features a combination of treated goatskin and cowhide, chosen for resilience against abrasion, snow and general wear. A short cuff paired with an elasticated wrist keeps the fit secure and helps seal out cold air without adding unnecessary bulk. While the reMix Mitt is not waterproof, the dense leather construction offers substantial wind blocking and reliable protection in dry or moderately snowy conditions. With a warmth rating of 7/8 and durability rated at 6/8, it sits comfortably in the category of dependable all purpose winter mittens.
Because each pair is made from reclaimed materials, the colour blocking varies slightly, giving every set a distinctive, one-of-a-kind appearance. The Tan/Offwhite edition blends warm natural leather tones with a clean, contrasting upper, making it suitable for both outdoor functionality and casual winter style. The design also includes attachment points for handcuffs, allowing the mitts to be secured and preventing accidental drops during activity.
The reMix Mitt is produced in Hai Phong, Vietnam, in Hestra’s own specialised manufacturing environment where craftsmanship and sustainable decision making go hand in hand. As a limited edition model, availability is restricted to batches based on the amount of usable surplus leather, making each release inherently exclusive.
Whether you’re hiking forest trails, spending long days outside in winter, or simply seeking a warm and robust mitten with a lower environmental footprint, the Hestra reMix Mitt delivers durability, comfort and conscious material use in one thoughtful package.

Both design and development is done at the headquarters in the small village Hestra, Sweden. Our gloves are manufactured in our own factories and we personally buy all leather, fabric, wool and other materials. This gives us control of the production chain and ensures a high level of quality. Several of our models are handmade by some of the most experienced glove makers in Europe.
