The Smith Method Mips® helmet is a clean, low profile snow helmet designed for riders who want modern impact protection without unnecessary complexity. Built for park riding, storm days, and fast groomer laps, it focuses on reliable safety, consistent ventilation, and seamless integration with Smith goggles.
At its core, the Method Mips® uses a lightweight in mold construction, fusing the outer shell directly to the EPS foam liner. This creates a durable, single piece structure while keeping overall weight low for all day comfort. Impact protection is enhanced through Zonal KOROYD® coverage, which absorbs energy efficiently while remaining highly ventilated. The addition of the Mips® Brain Protection System is designed to reduce rotational forces during angled impacts, adding an extra layer of protection without altering fit or ride feel.
Ventilation is intentionally straightforward. The Method Mips® features eight fixed vents, delivering steady airflow across a wide range of conditions. This setup favors consistency and simplicity, making it especially suitable for riders who prefer predictable climate control without moving parts. Warm air is actively channeled away from the goggles through Smith’s AirEvac™ ventilation system, helping to maintain clear lenses and reduce fog buildup during riding and lift rides.
Fit is handled by a self adjusting lifestyle fit system that flexes to match the rider’s head shape. This eliminates the need for a traditional adjustment dial, resulting in a streamlined exterior and balanced feel. The helmet is also available in a Round Contour Fit, offering improved comfort for riders with rounder head shapes.
Comfort features remain minimal but functional. Snapfit SL2 ear pads provide insulation on colder days and can be removed when temperatures rise. These ear pads are audio chip compatible and designed to work with Aleck® audio systems, allowing riders to add audio or communication without modifying the helmet. A removable goggle strap lock allows for a cleaner shell profile when goggles are worn under the helmet.
The Smith Method Mips® meets established snow sports safety standards, including ASTM F 2040 and CE EN 1077 Class B certifications. Its design prioritizes dependable protection, ventilation, and fit integration rather than feature overload.
Built for riders who value simplicity, durability, and proven safety technology, the Smith Method Mips® is a dependable choice for everyday resort riding, park sessions, and changing winter conditions.
