Burton Re:Flex vs EST Bindings

One of the most important choices when buying Burton bindings is the mounting system.

Burton Re:Flex

Burton Re:Flex bindings use a disc-based mounting system and are the more versatile option when it comes to board compatibility.

They can be mounted on most modern snowboard mounting patterns, including standard 2x4 and 4x4 inserts as well as Burton snowboards featuring The Channel when used with the correct mounting hardware.

That makes Re:Flex a logical option if you ride different snowboard brands or want the freedom to move your bindings between different boards.

Burton EST

Burton EST bindings are designed specifically for Burton snowboards featuring The Channel.

Instead of a traditional mounting disc underneath your foot, EST bindings mount at the sides of the binding. This allows a more direct connection with The Channel and lets the snowboard flex more naturally underneath your feet.

The trade-off is compatibility: EST bindings are made for The Channel and cannot simply be transferred to a standard 2x4 snowboard.

Burton Bindings and The Channel

Most current Burton snowboards use The Channel, Burton's mounting interface for adjusting binding position.

The system allows very precise adjustment of stance width and binding angles without being restricted to a fixed series of insert positions.

Both compatible Re:Flex and EST Burton bindings can be used with The Channel, but they connect to the board differently. EST is designed specifically around The Channel, while Re:Flex retains the flexibility to be used on many non-Burton snowboards as well.
