The Patagonia Men's Regulator 5/4 Hooded Full Suit is a cold-water wetsuit built for reliable warmth, mobility, and reduced environmental impact. Designed for water temperatures between 45°–55° F / 7°–13° C, it uses a 5/4/3mm construction and a fully integrated hood for added protection in demanding surf conditions. The result is a suit that balances insulation, stretch, and clean technical execution.
The suit is made from 85% Yulex® natural rubber and 15% chlorine-free synthetic rubber by polymer content. The natural rubber is sourced from suppliers that are Forest Stewardship Council® certified by Preferred by Nature™, offering an alternative to conventional neoprene without compromising the flexible feel expected from a performance wetsuit. Patagonia pairs this material with a complete NetPlus® postconsumer recycled nylon fabric package, used across both internal and external face fabrics. Made from recycled fishing nets, this construction helps reduce ocean plastic pollution, while the solution-dyed process eliminates water use during dyeing.
This collaborative design was created with AXXE Wetsuits and refined through Patagonia’s technical approach. The entry system is built to improve comfort while helping reduce flushing, using a YKK® #5 stretch-coil zipper with an extended pull for easier access. Fit plays a central role in warmth, so Patagonia has fully redesigned the patterning from the hood down to the ankle cuff to improve overall mobility and create a more precise, secure feel through the full suit.
Construction details are focused on durability and water management. All seams are triple-glued and blindstitched, then finished with internal stretch seam tape for reinforcement. The linings are laminated with water-based, solvent-free AquaA® glue. At the wrist and ankle openings, external rubber gaskets help create a secure seal and reduce the chance of blowout during hard use. A simple easy-access key loop rounds out the feature set with practical everyday function.
Made in a Fair Trade Certified™ factory, this suit reflects Patagonia’s broader focus on responsible manufacturing as well as technical performance in cold-water surf.
