The Hestra Fall Line 5 Finger is a short leather design for skiing and snowboarding, made for riders who want the cuff to sit inside a jacket sleeve. Five separate fingers favour precise adjustments to straps and closures, with more individual movement than a mitten. Its practical strength is the combination of a supportive leather shell and a liner you can remove after riding. The Loden / Loden colourway changes the appearance without changing the purpose: a close connection to your equipment and manageable warmth for ordinary days riding both on and off the piste.
The shell uses impregnated cowhide with external seams. This places the seam bulk outside the gripping surface around the fingers, helping the hand close comfortably on a pole or strap. A removable synthetic fleece liner provides a soft inner surface, with insulation adding warmth and structure. Separating the liner from the shell helps both parts dry between days. If you replace the liner later, check the exact model and size rather than assuming every Hestra inner will fit the same shell.
A neoprene cuff with hook-and-loop adjustment secures the wrist without the length of a gauntlet. It is worth testing under your own jacket, especially when reaching forward or bending the wrist. Wrist straps and a carabiner are included, giving you useful ways to retain or attach the pair when they are off your hands. The treated leather offers wind and weather resistance, but the Fall Line has no waterproof membrane. Choose a membrane model if persistent rain or very wet snow is your main concern.
Choose room around the fingertips rather than a tight, stretched fit. Close your hand around a pole or a binding strap: the insulation should not feel flattened and the cuff should stay comfortable. Try the gloves with your own jacket sleeves, because the overlap matters when you reach forward. An extra liner takes up space, so check the complete combination before choosing a size. Warmth also depends on circulation, activity and moisture; a glove cannot promise the same comfort in every temperature.
For leather care and drying, follow the label and use a treatment suitable for the leather. Let the shell air dry away from radiators and other direct heat. Where the liner is removable, dry it separately and follow its own washing instructions. Regularly checking the palm, seams and cuff helps you spot wear before a trip. A dry liner and supple outer are more useful than adding layers that make the fit too tight.
